Anambra 2017: SGF’s Suspension Technically Knocks Andy Ubah out of Race

Former Strongman of Anambra politics, and senator representing Anambra South, Dr Andy Ubah has been technically knocked out of Anambra governorship race,www.elekenews.com reports.

Ubah had recently dumped his peoples Democratic party, PDP where he was a kingmaker of sort for the all progressives congress, APC in the hope of flying the party’s flag for the governorship election in November.
Though APC has the habit of rejecting new entrants flying their flag in elections, Ubah sources close to him said exudes confidence that he would clinch the party’s ticket for the election ahead of old members in the race.
A source who spoke to www.elekenews.com said Ubah’s confidence stems from a promise made him by the recently suspended secretary to the government of the federation, David Babachir Lawal.
The source stated that the SGF was responsible for the decamping of Ubah from PDP to APC, having assured him that he would be given the ticket to vie. The SGF it was also gathered was counting on his closeness to the President to help Ubah sail through.
Www.elekenews.com gathered that the duo of Ubah and Babachir have been long time friends.
With Babachir on suspension, the source said that all hope seems lost for Ubah except a miracle happens for him that brings back the SGF. Even at that, the source argued that if Babachir returns, having had a dent, the president may likely not take him to strong confidence, which may affect the plan to get him to endorse Ubah.
Meanwhile, the APC in a meeting of leaders of the party in the south east zone which was held in the country home of the minister for labour and employment, Dr Chris Ngige inaugurated a committee headed by Dr Jim Nwobodo to screen aspirants on the party’s platform, while assuring that it will give every aspirant a level playing ground, without any form of favouritism.
Attempt by www.elekenews.com to confirm this story from senator Ubah proved abortive as his Etisalat line announced that the number was incorrect a d does not exist.
