Sonny Chu Okongwu, a former Minister of Finance is dead. He died on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
Okongwu, 87, an Economist by profession, was born on September 23, 1934, in Nnewi North local government area of Anambra State.
He was the Minister of National Planning between 1985-1986 and Minister of Finance between 1986-1990 during the Babangida administration.
Mr Okongwu is a graduate of Economic Theory from Boston University, Massachusetts, the United States of America. From 1961 to 1965, he furthered his studies at Harvard University.
