Mystery death in Anambra as Police discovers 4 bodies in a room

Four middle aged women who came to hold a night vigil in the residence of their church member have been discovered dead in a room in a mysterious circumstance on Monday.
Sources said the deceased persons may have died on Saturday as neighbours confirmed that the woman whose name was given as, Mrs Chinwe Obi has not answered calls to her phone since Saturday.
It was gathered that three women had come to the home of the lady who also recently lost her husband after a protracted illness to keep her company and also pray with her as she had deposited the corpse in the mortuary on Friday.
The corpses were removed after neighbour alerted the police over an offensive smell that was emanating from the flat of the deceased, which was also followed by drops of stinking water which dripped downstairs from their one storey building.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra, Mr Hassan Karma told journalists that the command has commenced investigation to unravel the cause of the death of the four ladies saying that they were found dead in an apartment along Olisa Onyeka Crescent, Commissioner’s quarters, Ifite-Awka.

He said following a tip off, the police stormed the room, “Some tenants reported to police that they perceived awful odour suspecting some people had died in the room. We broke the door of the room and discovered four dead bodies. The four ladies died on Saturday night in a room without bruises or attack from anyone,” the commissioner said.
According to him, among the dead ladies was Mrs Chinwe Obi, the owner of the room and a staff of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), Awka.
Although, Karma said a generator set and a remnant pot of soup were discovered around the room, a post mortem examination would be carried out to ascertain the exact cause of their death.
However, the commissioner said he would only confirm the identity of other three ladies whose bodies have been deposited at Amaku General Hospital morgue in the course of further investigation.
Karma assured that the police would continue in their efforts to ensure safety of lives and property
Meanwhile, the land lady of the apartment, Mrs Ify Onyebumuo, said in an interview that she was contacted on phone by one of the tenants following the unusual quietness.
Onyebumuo noted that the tenant said awful water was dropping out from her room, adding that late Obi had not picked her phone since Sunday.
The land Lady disclosed that the deceased woman had lived in the building for about 11 months.
Also speaking, the Caretaker of the building, Mr Ignatius Machie, said he was also contacted on phone by some tenants who told him they suspected some people died in the room. He added that it he was told the husband of that deceased also died on Friday in the room.
