Onitsha: New ATMA Boss Gives Directive to End Notorious Building Materials Market Traffic

The new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Traffic Management Agency, Engr Emeka Okonkwo (konti Komplete) has given new directives aimed at ending traffic at the Building material market in Ogidi.

The traffic at the market had become perennial, most times stretching until 10pm.

The latest development is the dispossession of many road users of their belongings right at the traffic.

THE RAZOR NEWS had earlier reported how the market leaders begged Soludo to come to their aid, stating that some of the shanties infront of the building materials market along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, right in front of the building materials market, along the road leading to Awka was habited by criminals.

True to their words, many motorists have been dispossessed of their belongings in the traffic in the full glare of everyone.

But working on how to stop the traffic, ATMA team led by the MD/CEO Engr Emeka Okonkwo ( konti Komplete) decided to barricade the “u turn” spot at the building materials market with a Concrete median.

The team who were at the spot today narrated that henceforth, having barricaded the turning spot close to the market, any vehicle going to Onitsha from Ugwu Nwasike, Ogidi will drive down to turn at the toll gate Ogbunike.

Also, any vehicle heading to Ugwu Nwasike Ogidi from Awka will only be able to make a “u turn ” at New parts Nkpor fly over or Ziks roundabout .

Sources confessed that the measure was able to enable free flow of traffic along the road on Thursday evening.

The team stated that their Next step is for ATMA team to move to new parts flyover and Ziks roundabout in Onitsha to ensure there is free flow of traffic for easy access for vehicles to make “u turn” in the area.
