The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the November 8 Anambra State election, Mr. John Chuma Nwosu, has congratulated the Super Eagles of Nigeria for clinching the bronze medal at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), describing the feat as a moment of national pride and unity.
In a congratulatory statement issued on Sunday, Nwosu said the Super Eagles once again lifted the spirit of the nation, noting that football remains Nigeria’s strongest unifying force despite the country’s diverse cultures, languages and convictions.
He acknowledged that while many Nigerians had hoped for a gold medal finish, the bronze secured by the team was a commendable achievement, reflecting resilience, character and determination.
According to him, the players demonstrated focus, courage and belief throughout the tournament, fighting gallantly until the final whistle.
Nwosu stressed that the bronze medal should not be seen as a mere consolation, but as a solid foundation for greater successes in the future, adding that the team’s performance reaffirmed Nigeria’s status as a country that will always contend on the continental and global stage.
He thanked the Super Eagles for giving Nigerians something to celebrate together and for keeping hope alive, expressing confidence that the gold medal would come in subsequent competitions.
“The nation is ready,” he said, while wishing the team greater triumphs ahead.
