2025: Non indigenes warn members against selling of votes, mobilize members for registration

As the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC in Anambra state commences registration and validation of voters, the Association of Non Indigenes In Anambra State (ANIAS) have warned members not to fall prey to overtures of desperate politicians buying voter’s cards.

The body also urged members that do not have permanent voter’s cards to endeavor to obtain permanent voter’s cards ahead of the November 8th gubernatorial election in the area.

President of Association of Non Indigenes In Anambra state Prince Chigozie Nweke who spoke to reporters in Awka on Sunday said ;

“It has come to the notice of the Association of Non Indigenes In Anambra State ANIAS that some desperate politicians have been going about approaching illegible voters with mouth watering financial offers for them to hand over their voter’s cards to them ”

“We also have it on good record that since the announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for the registration of voters and validation of voters some people have commenced sharp practices in the name of support groups for some governorship candidates there by cloning voter’s cards bought from unsuspecting electorates in the state”

“To this end we warn our members not to fall prey to theses political fraudsters who are working for some gubernatorial candidates ahead of this election ”

“We also urge our members to aveil the opportunity provided by INEC to go for permanent voter’s cards on time in order not to be caught napping before the election ”

Nweke further announced that the body has commenced sensitization of members on the need to perform their civic responsibilities as Nigerians adding that it has opened up talks with the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for a special voter education for members across the twenty one local government areas of Anambra state.

“As Nigerians we have that civic responsibility to be part of the electoral process and we have been talking to our members about that and we shall be partnering with INEC in the area of voter education before the November 8th gubernatorial election in Anambra state ” he said.
