A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Paul Chukwuma, has cautioned the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, against equating recent appointments of APGA members with electoral success.
Chukwuma’s reaction follows President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s appointment of Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu and Mark Okoye, both top APGA members, to key positions.
APGA members have claimed that these appointments signify a strong alliance between the presidency and APGA, potentially boosting Governor Soludo’s reelection chances in 2025.
However, Chukwuma emphasized that appointments and elections are distinct entities in party politics.
“Appointments are based on individual merit, while elections prioritize the interest of the party,” he noted.
Chukwuma expressed confidence that President Tinubu will support the APC fully in the upcoming governorship election, aiming to oust the Soludo APGA government in Anambra.
He commended President Tinubu for his inclusive approach to appointments, stating that the president’s commitment to federal character and merit-based selections should be applauded.
Chukwuma also noted that President Tinubu has appointed qualified APC members and non-politicians to key positions, demonstrating his commitment to inclusivity and merit-based governance.
He said a pilot survey conducted in the state showed that the people are disenchanted with the Soludo Administration, majorly because of the insecurity in the state that has cut down people’s freedom and joy.
According to Chukwuma, Anambra is gravitating towards a failed state, where life is becoming increasingly difficult and insecure.
He promised to restore the state’s lost glory and ensure the people’s freedom and joy are regained.
