The governorship race in Anambra took a dramatic turn yesterday when Action Alliance (AA) candidate, Ọzọ Jephat Ezechukwu Nweke, popularly known as Jeff Nweke, vowed to end what he described as years of political deception in the state.
Addressing Ndi Anambra in what he called “an address of commitment,” Nweke, in his characteristic blunt style, said he is not a typical politician who gives empty promises, describing himself instead as “a street man with guts and action.”
“I am not a guy man like them; I am a Nigga,” he declared, stressing that he represents the common man, the streets and the hustlers.
“There is no place for nonsense in me. If we move, we go straight to action,” he said.
According to Nweke, the November 8 governorship election offers Ndi Anambra a rare opportunity to take back their destiny from politicians who, for years, have fed fat on public resources while leaving the people in poverty.
He told the crowd: “All those pains, the sufferings and hopelessness because of how they run the state and the system, I want to tell you, never mind, I feel you. I know exactly how you feel. All these are summed up in me. I heard your cry. I am with you. The time of crying is over; it is time for change.”
Nweke promised that under his leadership, Anambra would no longer be run by wolves in sheep’s clothing. He vowed to prioritise truth, transparency and the aspirations of young people.
“I am in this race to be governor not because of power but because I am tired of seeing people suffering in silence. I am tired of seeing our youths giving up. It should not be like that because our youths are brilliant, but nobody believes in their dreams,” he said.
He challenged Anambra voters to seize the moment: “Stop complaining, make a choice. I have chosen to step in and fix it. Come with me and believe in me, we shall get it done.”
The AA candidate concluded by appealing for solidarity: “Not only to go and vote on November 8, but to make a statement this time that Anambra State needs leadership grounded in action, rooted in truth and integrity, and delivered with heart,” he said.
