Two days to the Senatorial and House of Assembly bye-elections in Anambra state, no fewer than 350 members of the People’s Redemption Party, PRP, have dumped their party for the All Progressives Congress APC in Anambra state.
During the state Executive meeting of the party Thursday in Awka, with all the 21 local government chairmen in attendance, the state chairman of the party,Chief Aninwachukwu Mathias, said they were doing it because only Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu and Uche Ekwunife are capable of rescuing the state
Aninwachukwu lamented the number of killings, kidnappings and other crimes in the state, describing them as unbearable.
He stated that some other chairmen of different political parties had indicated interest to follow the process, as according to him, ” they are equally, discussing it”
They declared support for the governorship candidate of APC, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife.
He said, ” we have decided in PRP in the state to follow Ukachukwu and Ekwunife since we don’t have any candidate and we have seen that the duo have capacity to defeat the incumbent, who has made things difficult for the people in the state ”
Ukachukwu, who was represented by Hon Tony Ezekwelu, former House of Assembly member in Anambra state and former youth leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, described it as awesome
He described them as the wise people in Anambra,adding that the unanimous decision by the party was heartwarming
Ezekwelu, enumerated so many qualities that distinguished Ukachukwu and Ekwunife as the best to Governor the state, adding that the PRP members would never regret teaming up with the winning team of APC in Anambra state
