Tears and fear have gripped families in Anambra as six Nigerian Law School students from Onitsha were kidnapped by gunmen on their way to the Yola campus in Adamawa State.

The chilling abduction happened on the lonely Wukari–Benue border highway on Saturday night, July 26 – a road long cursed by kidnappers and bloodshed.

The victims, who had just completed their mandatory court externship, were heading back to school ahead of Monday’s resumption when hell broke loose.

Those whisked away include Rev. Ernest Okafor, Ogbuka Fabian, Nwamma Philip, Okechukwu Obadiegwu, Obalem Emmanuel and Obiorah David.

Police in Adamawa confirmed the abduction but said it happened outside their state.

“The incident occurred close to Benue. Security agencies are working together to rescue them,” said SP Yahaya Suleiman.

But the nightmare has only just begun. In a chilling call to the families, the kidnappers demanded a staggering N120 million ransom – N20 million for each student.

They bragged that they deliberately chose them because they are “big men’s children,” and warned that time was running out.

As parents and friends weep and pray, the fate of these promising law students now hangs in the balance, caught in the grip of men who have turned Nigeria’s highways into hunting grounds.
