Heavy rainstorm on Wednesday chased popular gospel t act, Chioma Jesus off stage, while she was performing at the burial ceremony of late Annie Okonkwo, at Ojoto, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
THE RAZOR gathered that the musician almost forcefully ended the performance of another up and coming music act, who was contracted from Lagos to showcase his talent at the burial.
A source said the upcoming musician, whose name was given as Ifeanyi was already on stage performing, when Chioma Jesus started asking the Master of Ceremony to send him off stage for her (Chioma Jesus) to come and perform.
It was learnt that she started throwing tantrums while Ifeanyi was still on stage.
The source said: “When the young man (Ifeanyi) was performing, Chioma Jesus was backstage sanitizing her personal (private) microphone, and later started fuming on the Compēre, Richmond Osuji to stop the guy. She threatened to leave the stage if igeanyi was not stopped, and if she was not called up to come and perform immediately.
“I didn’t know the MC was going to cut short the Ifeanyi’s beautiful performance, just to please Chioma, but the MC succumbed.
“Ifeanyi was abruptly and disrespectfully stopped from playing, while Chioma Jesus ushered in. Ifeanyi’s boys tried to protest the humiliation, but Ifeanyi asked them to forget it. He rather started praising Chioma Jesus as she mounted the Stage, and people were so happy for that young man’s maturity.
“Drama then ensued immediately Chioma Jesus Started singing. A thunderous hurricane came, carried the tent meant for Annie’s Wife, blew off the stage on which Chioma was performing, and she took to her heels, leaving the stage even more disgracefully than she had sent off Ifeanyi.
“The Hurricane ended every performance,” the source stated.
Despite the abrupt end of the show, some people in attendance believed that the major beneficiary of the entire imbroglio, was Chinyere Udoma, who did not eventually perform, but pocketed the N5million she was paid for the show.
“She ran away, struggling to scamper to safety in her big gown, like a frightened rabbit being chased by a snake,” the source said.
