President Bola Tinubu and and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the last election, Mr Peter Obi may meet Friday in Anambra state, as the leader of the All Progressives Congress APC, Chief Modestus Umenzekwe buries brother.
Umenzekwe, a chieftain of APC in the Southeast and close ally of Mr President, is holding funeral of Very Rev. Fr Ndukuba Umenzekwe to mother earth at Achina, Aguata local government area of the state tomorrow
Apart from the invitation to Tinubu, other notable names in the country like former Governor of Lagos state and immediate past Minister of Works and Power, Mr Babatunde Fashola, SAN, will be in the state to pay his last respect to the respected departed priest.
Also, it was extended to Obi, who was also, former Governor of Anambra state, former Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp PLC, Mr Valentine Ozigbo, member, representing Aguata federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Dom Okafor and Senator (Iyom) Uche Ekwunife.
Other prominent leaders of APC expected to attend alongside Mr President, included the Senator, representing Anambra South, Ifeanyi Ubah, Senator Gbenga Ashafa and Senator Andy Uba.
Also, in the invitation letter were, one of the governorship hopefuls on the platform of APC for Anambra 2025, Mr Paul Chukwuma and Catholic Cardinal Okpalaeke.
The letter to the leaders read;”I respectfully write to specially invite you to the funeral ceremony of my dear uncle and my father’s immediate younger brother, Very Rev. Fr. Michael Ndukuba Umenzekwe – Azike whose death occurred on Friday, 7th June, 2024″
The Holy Mass, according to the letter, would be conducted at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Achina
“Sir, kindly accept this as your official invitation to grace the occasion” and it was personally signed by Hon. Chief Modestus Umenzekwe (Onwa of the Kingdom) and chairman,Azike Dynasty.
Other respected names in the letter included, former Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, Senator Lawal Shuaibu,Hon. Nze Chidi Duru among other APC chieftains at both the state and national levels.
