News

The member representing Awka south 1 state constituency, Hon. Nigeria Henry Mbachu, has stated that the Democratic atmosphere enjoyed by ndi Anambra will be under serious threat if the APC decides in 2025 to replicate what APGA did in Anambra local government elections

Hon. Mbachu made this statement yesterday during his interactive session on Arise TV where he accused the governor of Anambra state, Prof. Charles Soludo for changing the rules of the game while the match was on

According to him, there was no local government election held on September 28, 2024, as claimed by the state government. Instead, he describes the exercise as an internal election between two factions of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)

Pinpointing the undemocratic consequences for that, Hon. Mbachu stressed that if the ruling party (APC) decides to replicate Same thing done by APGA In 2025 gubernatorial elections,, then our democracy will be facing serious danger

Speaking further, Hon. Mbachu said that before the council election date, ANSIEC has announced elections and it’s processes, only for House members to receive a bill to re-ammend ANSIEC law and grant elected members the power to present a candidate in an election”, the Bill was pronounced, went through all the reading stages and passed into law the same day which is very undemocratic and tantamount to political gerrymandering

The cerebral lawmaker also noted that labour party is in court to make sure the right is done and the people we allowed to elect their choices
