In an extraordinary display of admiration, angry drivers protesting a police shooting in Unobe, Olamaboro Local Government Area, suddenly turned cheerful upon the arrival of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate.

A few hours earlier, our Obi had left Anambra for Kogi State, only to encounter a long line of stationary vehicles stretching over half a kilometer in Unobe.

Upon inquiry, it was learned that the police had shot the tire of a trailer driver, prompting fellow drivers to block the road in protest.

However, Obi’s unexpected arrival at the scene dramatically changed the atmosphere.

He got out of his car and walked towards the epicenter of the protest, diffusing tensions with his presence.

Commuters from various ethnic groups – Igbo, Yoruba, and Hausa – chanted “Our President!” as he approached.

The previously distraught driver, clad in a brown caftan, swiftly shifted from lamenting to taking selfies with Obi.

Without prompting, the driver declared in Hausa, “Who am I for Obi to beg me?” and cleared the road, bringing relief to all.

The sudden resolution stunned onlookers.

Witnesses described the scene as “electrifying” and “unifying.”

Our correspondent, who witnessed the event, reported, “The transformation was astonishing.

Obi’s presence turned a potentially volatile situation into a celebration of unity.”

A photo taken at the scene showed the driver in a brown caftan taking a selfie with Obi amidst cheering commuters.

The incident has generated intense interest, with many taking to social media to praise Obi’s leadership and ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
