President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has appointed Mark Okoye, a loyalist of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), as the Managing Director of the South East Development Commission.
This development comes a few months after Tinubu appointed Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, a member of APGA’s Board of Trustees, as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
Before his appointment, Okoye served as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency, a position he held since September 2022 under the APGA government of Prof Chukwuma Soludo.
He also served as Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget and Development Partners in the previous APGA government in Anambra State.
With over 15 years of experience in managerial positions at leading investment banks, Okoye has advised Nigeria’s largest publicly traded institutions and governments.
He has also served in various capacities across three administrations in Anambra State.
Okoye’s commitment to social development programs has earned him recognition from state, national, and global organizations.
A graduate of George Washington University, Okoye was among the nominees submitted by President Tinubu to the Senate for confirmation for the Governing Board of the South East Development Commission (SEDC).
According to a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu has nominated Hon. Emeka Atuma as Chairman of the SEDC board, with Okoye set to take on the role of Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer.
Other board members include Ugochukwu H. Agballah, Hon. Okey Ezenwa, Chief Hyacinth Ikpor, and Hon. Donatus Eyinnah Nwankpa, among others.
