A frontline governorship aspirant in Anambra State, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has criticized the state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, for the underdevelopment of the state.

Chukwuma, running on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, accused Soludo of failing to deliver on his promise of a “Dubai-Taiwan standard” of development.

Speaking at his country home in Umueri on Saturday, Chukwuma lamented that Anambra State, with its abundant human and capital resources, is lagging behind other states in the South-East.

Chukwuma expressed disappointment that Governor Soludo’s administration, despite its grand promises, has not been able to achieve even the modest level of infrastructural development seen in Abakaliki, the capital of neighbouring Ebonyi State.

He promised to revamp the state’s fortunes in all sectors if elected governor.

Chukwuma condemned the growing insecurity in the state, particularly the abduction of clerics under Soludo’s nose.

He criticized the government’s handling of infrastructure development, citing the collapse and deterioration of roads built by the Soludo administration.

Paul Chukwuma expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Ikemba Front for their endorsement, stating that their support has significantly boosted his chances in the November 8 governorship election.

“With your backing, I believe we’ve already won 50 percent of the battle,” he said, emphasizing the group’s influential role in the state’s political landscape.

The Ikemba Front, a political movement in the state, had endorsed Chukwuma on the occasion for the governorship position, citing his proven humility, infrastructural and human development record.

Dr. Okoye, a leader of the group, said they rejected other governorship aspirants and refused to back Soludo’s re-election bid due to his administration’s poor performance.

Hon. Chugbo Enwezor, a former APGA member of the Anambra state House of Assembly, praised the Ikemba Front for supporting Chukwuma.

He said Soludo has proven incapable of providing the desired leadership due to his arrogance and failure to utilize the state’s financial resources effectively.

Enwezor noted that Onitsha, with the largest market in West Africa, has seen no development projects under the Soludo government, despite generating significant revenue.
