The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has allocated N148 billion for the construction of the access road to the Second Niger Bridge in Anambra State.
This development is part of the federal government’s efforts to improve the country’s infrastructure and enhance connectivity between states.
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, disclosed this.
The FEC also approved contracts for various road projects across the country, including the Onitsha-Owerri expressway (N22 billion), the Wusasa-Jos route in Kaduna State (N18 billion), and the Ado-Ekiti–Igede Road Project (N5.4 billion).
In addition to the access road in Anambra State, the FEC also approved N470.9 billion for the access road in Delta State.
Other projects approved by the council include the reconstruction of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway (Phase 2, Section 1) at a cost of N195 billion, and the reconstruction of three segments of the Lokoja-Benin road with a total budget of N305 billion.
Umahi emphasized that the federal government is committed to using reinforced concrete pavement for upcoming infrastructure projects, citing its durability and cost-effectiveness. He also assured that the government will not tolerate excuses for road failures, and that affected sections will be redone with proper oversight.
