
~ Adds Law, Medicine, English to it’s Courses

The Shanahan University Onitsha, owned by the Catholic Church, has held it’s maiden Matriculation with almost 500 students.
The Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof Obi Oguejiofor, disclosed this Saturday at the Shanahan hall, in the Basilica of the Holy Trinity during the event.
He revealed that the institution which kicked off October 2024, with 19 Courses, had added five more Courses making it 24.
Oguejiofor, listed the new Courses as Law, Medicine, English Language, Anatomy and Physiology
He said the university is making history being the first in the ancient history of Onitsha
adding that education must be backed by values and good morals .
“Our institution is the one that teaches its students to be confident in themselves, adding that discipline remains indispensable for any meaningful progress.
“Shanahan started with 19 programmes in October 2024 and we are adding additional five new courses, Medicine, English language, Law, Anatomy and Physiology” The Vice Chancellor said
For the Proprietor and Chancellor of the University, Archbishop Valerian Okeke, he charged the students to Imbibe the culture of excellence while the sky Will be their limit.
The Obi of Onitsha, Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, in his speech, charged the students of the University, to shun all the vices and be the leaders the country craves for.
He said the most challenging thing in Nigeria is leadership, adding that, the students should live the life of the person whose name is given to the school, Bishop Shanahan
Achebe, said the Archbishop has made it clear that the University is the first and will be the best in Anambra, Nigeria and indeed, the entire sub Saharan Africa.
“I thought I would never see a University in Onitsha. We’re living the legacy of Shanahan who brought education to us, you students are the hope of Nigeria”
He said the most challenging thing in Nigeria is shortage of good leadership, while charging the students to feel the gap of that shortage of leadership
“You should brace up in making the country your parents and the church proud.
“There’s no alternative to moral uprightness. Yesterday is gone, today is here and tomorrow will come. Trust in God who is our benefactor” Obi of Onitsha said
