In a politically symbolic move, kinsmen of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in Aguata Local Government Area have pledged support for All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, ahead of the November 8 election in Anambra State.

Residents from the 14 communities and 20 electoral wards in Aguata converged on the Central School field, Ekwulobia, on Tuesday to receive the APC ticket holders during their ongoing ‘Thank You Tour’ across the state.

The visit also served as a platform to inaugurate 27-man ward executive committees and campaign teams.

In a dramatic show of support, Soludo’s own kinsmen presented Ukachukwu and Ekwunife with a cow and an 18-seater Toyota bus to aid their statewide campaign.

Prof. Carter Nnamdi Umeh, a two-time member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, declared: “We are behind Ikukuoma. Nicholas means victory for the people.”

Prof. Paul Orajaka, emeritus professor of Geology, urged total support for the APC ticket, saying their victory would bring long-awaited development.

He criticized Soludo’s administration for allegedly neglecting Aguata, despite being a native of the area.

“Our people couldn’t farm this year—no seedlings, no fertilizer, and insecurity kept them away from their land. We hear officials divert fertilizer meant for the state,” he said.

He also alleged that no new schools have been built under the APGA-led government in two decades, describing the recently introduced free education as “a ruse.”

Hon. Ikem Uzozie, former Deputy Speaker of the Anambra House of Assembly, said November 8 would be payback time. “Tarring the Ekwulobia road is not enough. We are hungry, deprived, and humiliated.”

Chief John Bosco Onunkwo, APC reconciliation committee chair, formally handed over the campaign bus and declared Aguata’s support for the APC ticket.

“Ukachukwu and Ekwunife will free Anambra from poverty and misrule,” he said. “The movement is real—and it begins here.”

In a significant political realignment, Hon. Sunday Nnadi, former PDP chairman in Aguata, led 20 PDP ward chairmen to defect to the APC. “Our candidate cannot win. Ukachukwu can,” he said.

Senator Uche Ekwunife, a native of Aguata, expressed appreciation for the overwhelming support, lamenting that their own son in office had failed them.

“Go to Igboukwu, Achina, Ogboji, Ikenga—there’s no sign the governor is one of us,” she said. “Soludo may be Tinubu’s friend, but he’s not APC. We are. And we’ll do better.”

Ukachukwu, addressing supporters, pledged to tackle insecurity and boost agriculture.

“We are tired of running from gunmen and kidnappers. Within our first 100 days, we’ll restore security and give farmers the tools they need to produce food for our people.”
