The governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), Sir Paul Chukwuma, has reaffirmed his commitment to granting full autonomy to the local government system, judiciary, and legislature in Anambra State if elected governor.
Speaking during his monthly chat with Anambra media chiefs at Umueri, Chukwuma promised that local governments would function independently without interference, thereby accelerating grassroots development.
He further assured that the judiciary and the State House of Assembly would enjoy complete independence to carry out their constitutional mandates, thereby strengthening democracy and the rule of law through effective checks and balances.
In addition, he pledged to deploy security votes to ensure the protection of lives and property across the state.
“I won’t interfere with local government autonomy and funding. Security votes will be deployed strictly to secure lives and property of Ndi Anambra. All revenues generated will be done legally and applied to the development of the state,” he said.
Chukwuma also pledged to run a transparent, people-oriented administration that would welcome constructive criticism.
“My government will be responsive, responsible, and firmly rooted in due process and democratic principles,” he added.
Condemning the rising wave of mudslinging and campaigns of calumny in the state, Chukwuma stressed that he remained focused on issues that matter to the electorate.
“I am not interested in non-issue-based campaigns. My concern is explaining to Ndi Anambra the economic and social ecosystem I will fix when I come on board,” he reassured.
Chukwuma has sustained his monthly media briefing for over six months as part of his efforts to inform and educate the people of the state about his agenda.
