The Mayor of Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, has pledged to deliver 100 per cent victory for Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the November 8 governorship poll, even as he dismissed reports of alleged demolition and extortion at the Agba Edo Market, Nnewi.

Pal Anazodo was reacting to a viral video in which a few market women alleged that their shops had been marked for demolition and that they were being asked to pay ₦3.1 million each for reallocation.

Describing the allegation as “false, unfounded, and politically motivated,” the Mayor said it was the handiwork of opposition elements seeking to mislead the public and discredit the locaoqqggttff l government administration ahead of the forthcoming election.

“My administration has no plan whatsoever to demolish any structure at Agba Edo Market. We have not taxed or levied any trader, nor delegated anyone to collect money on our behalf,” Anazodo stated.

He added that the local government was unaware of any demolition notice in the market, noting that his leadership had rather invested heavily in improving facilities for traders.

According to him, the local government under his watch has constructed access roads, drainages, shops, and toilet facilities in the market — all of which were handed over to the traders at no cost.

Anazodo accused the opposition of sponsoring “faceless individuals to peddle lies and create tension” in a desperate bid to score cheap political points.

He urged political opponents to desist from divisive propaganda and join hands in supporting Governor Soludo’s transformation agenda for the state.

“The people of Nnewi are fully aligned with the APGA government. We have resolved to deliver 100 per cent victory for Soludo in the November 8 election,” he said.

The Mayor challenged any trader who claims to have been extorted or levied by the local government to come forward with proof of payment.
