The leadership consultative meeting of the Anambra State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) held on Friday at Geogold Hotels, where party leaders described the exit of its former presidential aspirant, Peter Obi, as painful but insisted that “life must move on.”
The meeting was led by the party’s deputy governorship candidate for the November 8 Anambra governorship election, Dr. Ndubuisi Nwobu.
Speaking after the meeting, Nwobu said the spirit within the Anambra chapter of the ADC remained high despite recent political developments.
“Yes, the exit of our former presidential aspirant is painful, but life must move on. The spirit of the party in Anambra remains very high,” he said.
According to him, nine aspirants had already picked nomination forms for the 2027 general elections, while six others had obtained forms to contest seats in the Anambra State House of Assembly.
“We already have nine aspirants who have picked nomination forms for the 2027 elections and six for the House of Assembly race. That clearly shows that the party is growing stronger,” he added.
The party also extended goodwill to members who had moved to other political platforms.
“We wish our brothers, including Peter Obi, who have moved to other platforms well, and we look forward to a day when all of us will come together again to rescue this country,” Nwobu stated.
The party leaders also reaffirmed their loyalty and support for the national leadership of the ADC headed by David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, the leaders commended the founding national chairman of the ADC, Ralph Nwosu, for what they described as “his exemplary leadership and selfless role in presenting the ADC platform as an umbrella body for the coalition.”
“We wish to commend our brother, Ralph Nwosu, for the exemplary show of leadership and his selfless role in navigating the coalition to fruition,” Nwobu stated.
The Anambra ADC leadership further noted that since the party originated from Anambra State, the state chapter would continue to play a leading role in ensuring the success of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“Considering that the ADC has its roots in Anambra State, we will not fold our hands. We will continue to work tirelessly for the success of the party in 2027,” the leaders declared.
