Adaora Soludo, the first daughter of the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has re-lauched her non-governmental organization, Gloria Foundation, with scholarship awards to 10 underprivileged female university students.

Gloria Foundation was launched in 2018 as a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women to become leaders of change.

The NGO was established in memory of late Mrs. Gloria Uzomaka Ezenwanne, a renowned educator, disciplinarian and social crusader.

The scholarship program, is a key aspect of the foundation’s Education Support Scheme which provides full tuition support for students from poor households.

In her address to the beneficiaries, Ms. Soludo explained that the program is a reminder that every young girl deserves to be seen, heard, supported, and encouraged, adding that life’s personal experience had taught her to understand that sometimes all a young person needs is a little support, a little encouragement, and someone who believes in them enough.

She stated that one of the reasons the Gloria Foundation exists is to create hope, inspire confidence, and support young people, especially girls, in pursuing education and becoming the best version of themselves.

The governor’s daughter further noted that the scholarship support is a symbol of hope and encouragement, while the sanitary pads which the students also got, was a reminder that no girl should feel less confident because of a natural part of womanhood.

Some of the beneficiaries — Oluchi Okeke, a 100-level undergraduate of the Economics department, Grace Okonkwo, a 300-level law student, Amarachi Ezeukwu, a 200-level Pysiology undergraduate, said that the scholarship would give enormous boost to their academic pursuit and hope for the future, and appreciated the Gloria Foundation for thinking towards practical impact.
