Former Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Chief Oseloka H. Obaze, has lauded the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for what he described as a “noble and novel” decision to constitute its Policy and Manifesto Committee on a non-partisan basis, saying the move reflects inclusiveness and a commitment to nation-building.
Obaze, a former diplomat and member of the committee, said the approach recognises “diversity, experience, talent and the willingness of many Nigerians to contribute to nation-building.”
He added that he was pleased to be part of the process and ready to serve.
“I’m glad to be on board and ready to serve,” Obaze said while reacting to the announcement of the committee’s composition.
The ADC had earlier announced the constitution of a 50-member Wise Men and Women Policy and Manifesto Committee, following approval by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
The committee was also endorsed by the National Chairman of the party, Senator David A. B. Mark, GCON, in line with the ADC’s stated goal of building a credible, people-centred and forward-looking policy framework for national governance.
According to the party, the committee draws members from diverse professional and ideological backgrounds, including former public office holders, academics, technocrats, policy experts, civil society leaders and other professionals with experience in governance, economic management, social development, security and democratic reform.
The committee is chaired by former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, with renowned political economist, Professor Pat Utomi, as Deputy Chairman. Salihu Lukman serves as Secretary.
ADC said the body is mandated to articulate a clear, coherent and credible policy direction that captures the aspirations of Nigerians and positions the party as a serious alternative platform for responsible leadership and national renewal.
The formal inauguration of the committee has been scheduled for Monday, February 2, 2026, at noon, at the Conference Hall of the ADC National Secretariat in Abuja.
In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC reaffirmed its belief that Nigeria’s challenges require solutions rooted in competence, integrity and national consensus, expressing confidence that the committee would deliver a manifesto that speaks to the real needs of Nigerians.
Members of the committee include Senator Gershon Bassey, Senator J.J. Akpan Udo-Udeghe, Ambassador Abiye Mohammed, Professor Chidi Odinkalu, Professor Sam Amadi, Dr Otive Igbuzor, AVM Sadique Abubakar, Professor Remi Sonaiya, Miss Yemi Adamolekun, Dr Usman Bugaje, and Chief Oseloka Obaze, among others.
The party urged all concerned members and relevant stakeholders to take note of the inauguration and support the committee’s work toward national renewal.
