Special Adviser to the Governor of Anambra State on Youth Reformation, Dr. Nelson Omenugha, mnipr, has taken the message of youth reformation to this years August Meeting, where he spoke to women.
Omenugha said his action was intentional because women form the most important people in families, whose voices influence decisions.
He said: “As the August Meeting season offers another opportunity to reconnect, reflect and strengthen our communities, I intentionally took the message of Youth Reformation to where it matters most – the family.
“As Charity begins at home, I led some APGA Nnobi stakeholders to engage our women and mothers of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Nnobi, on the Youth Reformation Agenda of His Excellency, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, and the critical role of the family in raising responsible citizens.
“Beyond government policies and programmes, the family remains the first and most powerful institution for character formation. And at the heart of that institution is the woman.
“Our mothers are caregivers, first teachers, values custodians and architects of the next generation. What children learn at home – discipline, responsibility, honesty, respect, hard work and compassion – ultimately shapes the society they become part of.
“That is why Youth Reformation cannot be the responsibility of government alone. The Church, family, schools and communities all have a role to play. Our churches, with their enormous moral and spiritual influence, must go beyond worship to actively promote character formation, mentorship, values and responsible citizenship.
“At the meeting, I challenged our mothers to be intentional about what their children watch, who they associate with, what they celebrate, the conversations they have, the values they model and the responsibilities they teach. We cannot demand responsible young people while raising children without responsibility.
“Greater Anambra begins with greater communities. Greater communities begin with greater families. And greater families are built by people who understand that raising a child is not merely a family responsibility – it is a societal responsibility.
“Reform the home. Strengthen the family. Raise responsible citizens. Build a Greater Anambra,” he stated.
