Oluremi Tinubu promises strong campaigns for husband’s re-election, honoured as UgoEze Anambra

First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has stated that she would campaign strongly for her husband in the 2027 presidential election when the time came.

Mrs Tinubu stated this on Thursday at Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka where she was received by the governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and his wife, Dr Nonye Soludo, after she launched the South East Community Food Bank Initiative in Anambra and also commissioned the TETFund sponsored ICT centre in Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area.

Speaking at the grand reception, shortly after she was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Ugo Eze by Anambra State Traditional Rulers, Mrs Tinubu reminded that she would return to Anambra for campaigns when the time came.

She said: “Anambra holds a special place in my heart. My husband holds the title of Ugo Simba from Anambra here, and today I have been bestowed with an title of Ugo Eze.

“I will be back for campaign proper, and we will go round the entire country. Today is not for campaign that is why we are wearing the national fabric, when it’s time for campaign, we will be back here.
We thank the governor and his wife for all their support and the support they are showing to the president.

“We have gone through the six geopolitical zones and we have concluded the community food bank initiative programme today and we give glory to God. I can tell you there is hope for the poor because we have gone round and seen it.

“Our food bank is for pregnant women, lactating mothers, children under six years and others. If you see someone who is malnourished, do not ignore them, please send them to the nearest primary health care centre where we have food bank.”

The first lady reiterated her love for Anambra and Igboland people, saying: “Igbo are very nice people and when I was a girl, my friends in secondary school were Igbo girls. Some people said I looked like Igbo and they spoke Igbo to me.

“Today, I want to support the governor and his wife by adding N100,000 each to all the 500 beneficiaries to be empowered by the wife of the Anambra State Governor, and that comes up to half a billion.

Mrs Tinubu inspected the Anambra First Lady’s empowerment material and also performed symbolic hand over of empowerment materials to beneficiaries.

Earlier, the governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo described Mrs Tinubu as as a loving mother who has lived out the scripture through care and humanity, as a true pastor.

He said: “She is a loving wife and a soul that cares for humanity. As a pastor you are living out the full meaning of the scriptures. You have used you platform to truly live out the true essence of life.

“In Anambra, ‘progressives are working together’ is not just a slogan but a statement of truth. APGA is the first Progressives party, but before the forming of APC, there is an APGA DNA in it. This is a partnership that works and we in Anambra are partnering with the federal government.

“At the federal level our legislator are working together with APC legislators to achieve the agenda of the federal government and here in Anambra we are working to cascade such policies down to the grassroots.”

While decorating Mrs Tinubu with the title, Ugo Eze, the chairman of Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Chidubem Iweka, the king of Obosi kingdom stated that Ugo meant pride or glory, while Eze meant king. She said the title meant that Mrs Tinubu was the glory of her husband who is a king.

He said: “This is in recognition of the selfless love you have shown to Nigerians across the country. We the people of Anambra appreciate you tremendously for the projects we have seen and all the other things you have done to show compassion.”

The event was also attended by several dignitaries, including first ladies of Jigawa, Kwara, Osun, Benue (coordinator office of the first lady), Yobe, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Borno, Kebbi, Ebonyi, Imo, Abia, and Former Minister of Finance, Mansa Muktar.

Several dignitaries from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra were also at the event, including; Uche Ekwunife, the candidate of the party for the Anambra Central Senatorial Zone; former Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah; former Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Josephine Anenih, among others.
