Igiri Backs Davido, Cubana Chief Priest, Says Odii Will Win Ebonyi Governorship Election

The Anyigaemeya Movement has backed comments credited to Nigerian Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, and socialite and businessman, Paschal Okechukwu Chibuike, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, over the performance of Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, popularly known as Anyichuks, would defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and emerge victorious in the governorship election.

In a statement made available to our Correspondent in Awka, the Anambra State Capital on Tuesday, the leader of the Anyigaemeya Movement, Comrade Igiri Innocent, thanked Davido, Cubana Chief Priest and other prominent Nigerians for speaking out on what he described as developments in Ebonyi State under the present administration.

Igiri encouraged more Nigerians, both within the country and in the diaspora, to speak up and support what he described as the efforts of the people of Ebonyi State towards achieving a “new Ebonyi State” through Odii, the PDP governorship candidate.

He said the PDP would work hard to defeat the APC in the 2027 governorship election and usher in what he described as a new beginning for the people of the state.

The group also unanimously reaffirmed its support for Odii and all PDP candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Igiri challenged the state government to respond to the issues raised by Davido and Cubana Chief Priest regarding the performance of the present administration, while appealing to Ebonyians to vote for the PDP candidate for what he described as a better change.

He said Odii, as a successful businessman, would bring his experience to bear on the governance of the state if elected, urging the people to consider his candidacy and vote for him.

Igiri also called on communities across the state to mobilise residents for democratic participation, good governance and grassroots political engagement.

According to him, functional political structures in every ward and community would help educate eligible voters and encourage peaceful participation in the electoral process.

He said the group remained open to every Ebonyi citizen who believed in democratic change, irrespective of political, religious or economic affiliation.

“Our resolve to participate in the 2027 elections and bring about change in Ebonyi State cannot be disrupted. It was the unanimous decision of this group that, in 2027, we will ensure that Ebonyi is given a new beginning, with fresh air of governance where the lives and development of our people will truly matter,” Igiri stated.

“Today, we are calling everyone to service—service to your motherland, service to rescue Ebonyi State and service to consolidate good governance and democracy,” he said.

“No human being can be a barrier to the interest of the masses and the entire state. No devil and no individual can thwart the will of the people. Go back to your communities and deliver the message from ward to ward, zone to zone and local government to local government,” Igiri added.

He urged all party faithful to remain committed to the project, expressing confidence that the people’s mandate would prevail through democratic means.
