The Acting Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor Carol Arinze Umobi has slashed the ICT fees and charges to the university based on the recommendations of the ICT Committee.
This was contained in a press statement made available to THE RAZOR and signed by the spokesperson of the university, Dr Emma Ojukwu.
In the release, he said a total of N9,500 was slashed based on the following recommendations
1. Students shall be charged only once for all ICT services.
2. Consequently, the following ICT fees and charges shall be abolished a. App fee – N2,000 b. Duplicate Orientation fee – N3,500 c.
The general studies publications fee was reviewed downwards from N12,000 to N8,000 3. There should be a 50% reduction on all transcript fees Submitting the recommendations to the Acting Vice Chancellor, the Committee emphasized the need to domicile the transcript processing platform in the university to be managed by the staff of the university.
The Acting Vice Chancelior therefore authorized the slash and approved that the recommendations of the committee should be implemented.
She expressed her deep conviction that these ICT fees and charges cut will be in the interest of the university and the students and their parents. She opined that no measure is too small to alleviate the hardship currently being faced by our students.
The Acting Vice Chancellor therefore advised the students to make use of all available opportunities to excel. With this cut in ICT fees and charges, the Acting Vice Chancellor Prof Carol Arinze Umobi has shown significant courage in helping to make education more affordable to the teeming youths of our society.
She pledged the preparedness of the University to work hard in the interest of our students.
