Another Nmesoma, now Obiora-Nwokedi Nmesoma, a student of Queens Convent Awka in Anambra State, has set a new academic record in her school by scoring 349 in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) resit.
This achievement is particularly remarkable given her earlier score of 165 in the initial exam, which was marred by technical glitches.
The Anglican Church-owned institution celebrated Nmesoma’s exceptional achievement, which was made possible by her determination and the support of her teachers and school community.
Speaking with our correspondent, the school’s principal, Dr. Martha Ibezim, attributed the feat to the school’s commitment to academic excellence, holistic development, and a rigorous learning environment.
“Nmesoma’s resilience and brilliance have not only secured her a promising future but have also brought immense pride to Queens Convent,” Dr. Ibezim stated. “Her story is a powerful reminder of perseverance and the importance of support systems in education.”
“Nmesoma’s achievement stands as a beacon of hope and determination, showing how students can overcome setbacks and thrive when given a second chance and the right environment. Her success reinforces Queens Convent Awka’s standing as a hub for academic and personal excellence.
This story comes on the heels of controversy surrounding another student, Ejikeme Mmesoma, who claimed to have scored 362 in the 2023 JAMB UTME.
However, JAMB reported her score as 249, and an investigation panel indicted her for manipulating her results.
In contrast, Obiora-Nwokedi Nmesoma’s achievement is a testament to her hard work and the support of her school community, demonstrating the importance of perseverance and a positive learning environment in achieving academic success.
