The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has said that those parading as Ikemba Front against the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, for the purposes of the 2025 governorship poll in the state are just targeting huge money that may come from President Ahmed Bola Tinubu during the period.
This was disclosed on Sunday by the National Coordinator of APGA Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe.
Stating that the Ikemba Front group is being led by the APGA presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Prof Peter Umeadi, Obigwe said most members of the cohort had no political
value.
Obigwe alleged that Umeadi had demanded N4bn from the APGA leadership to prosecute his 2023 presidential campaigns, adding, “The money he did not make with APGA Presidential ticket is what he is scheming with Ikemba front promoters to make from Tinubu and the national leadership of APC.
“I can only advise President Tinubu and the Ganduje leadership of APC to shine their eyes because Umeadi that is parading himself as the face of APGA in Nigeria does not have any political value, Obigwe stated.
Continuing, Obigwe said a presidential candidate that demanded N4billion from APGA national leadership for the prosecution of his presidential campaign in 2023 could not by any stretch of the imagination be parading as the face of APGA in Nigeria.
Obigwe added,”I remember gathering from a reliable source that APGA leadership asked him if APC was funding Tinubu campaign and they also asked him if PDP was funding Atiku Presidential campaign. He was unable to answer the questions and APGA leadership ignored him.
“Peter Umeadi obtained APGA presidential ticket to use it and make money because when the party national leadership turned down his request for them to fund his campaign with N4billion , he turned to Governor Soludo.
“He expected Governor Soludo to use Anambra State government money to fund his presidential campaign but Governor Soludo refused to waste Anambra money in that manner.
“This made him to turn against Governor Soludo and he started telling whomever that cares to listen to his cock and bull story that Governor Soludo is not supporting him.
“But on the election day, Governor Soludo won his polling unit for Umeadi with 92 votes.
“He does not have any political value hence the reason he was disgraced in his polling unit at the 2023 Presidential election.
“No matter how bad it is, if Umeadi had any political value he would have atleast won his polling unit as a presidential candidate in that election, but this did not happen.”
Obigwe said Umeadi could only get five votes for himself in his polling unit in the 2023 presidential elections.
Obigwe said,”I will say that the claim by Peter Umeadi and his Ikemba front promoters cohorts that I was on Umeadi payroll during the 2023 Presidential campaign but that I dangled some millions of naira to some APGA members to recruit 3000 young Anambra men who would vote for a political party, not APGA, in the presidential election and that the APGA members who are still alive rejected my offer is a beer parlour gossip.
“The issue in discuss is Umeadi political value and I arrived at the conclusion that he does not have any political value because of his own polling unit result in the last presidential election.
“You don’t use debate performance to judge someone’s political value because doing that is not being practical.
“The game plan of Ikemba front promoters is to use the unfounded claim that Umeadi is the face of APGA in Nigeria to deceive President Tinubu and APC leadership. I exposed their game plan and that was their reason for resorting to peddling of beer parlour gossip against me.
“Umeadi is a nobody in APGA and to be honest, whenever he defects to APC, the party faithfuls will celebrate it because his stay in the party is not adding any value to the party.”
