Anambra 2025: Moghalu, Nwosu to meet over LP Ticket to Protect Nnewi Interest

Politics

There are indications that two governorship aspirants of the Labour Party(LP) for the Anambra State 2025 election, Messrs George Moghalu and John Nwosu may meet to harmonize their interests before the primary election.

Both aspirants who hail from Nnewi town, in Nnewi North Local Government Area of the state are currently in the race for the ticket of the Labour Party for the election which is billed to hold in November this year.

Mr George Moghalu, the immediate past Managing Director of Nigeria Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) disclosed this in a press conference in his house on new year day.

Moghalu described Nwosu as his brother and in-law, saying the possibility of them meeting to harmonize interest to avoid waste of resources and also ensure the protection of Nnewi interest was inevitable.

He said: “He (Nwosu) is my brother and friend, in fact my in-law. Nothing is cast in iron and we have a good personal relationship. We also have our relations who are also involved in the politics of the town. I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of us meeting and discussing, so that we don’t waste resources and time.

“We need to work together to actualize the Nnewi dream. It is not impossible to meet, politics is about human dynamics, so I have no problem with that, I will not rule that out, even the party constitution provides for such, so we can discuss to ensure that things work out well.

“What is important is that we want Labour Party to form government of the state, so we are working together about this.

“We will meet, certainly we will meet, there is still a lot of time. Yesterday we were together in Onitsha, and before the primary election, we may still meet and hold a conversation.

Moghalu however said that what is incontestable is the fact that he has thrown his hat in the ring to replace Governor Chukwuma Soludo, insisting that he has all it takes to do better and even set the state on the right part.
