News

Commercial motorcyclists in Anambra State have thrown their weight behind Governor Charles Soludo’s re-election come November 8.

In a rally organized in Nnewi by the Okada operators on Saturday, representatives of thousands of their members across the State gathered with their motorcycles chanting solidarity songs to show their preparedness to give massive support to Soludo.

The Anambra State Chairman of the motorcyclists under the umbrella of Motorcycle Transport Welfare Association, Comrade Jude Udegbe said his association has resolved to vote for Governor Soludo to run for his second tenure to pay him back for not banning them.

“Past Governors in Anambra tampered with our operations, with attempts to ban Okada business in the entire State.

“But Soludo came and asked us whether we could checkmate infiltration of criminals to Okada business and we assured him that we would not condone any criminal in our midst.

“He promised us firmly that he would not disrupt our operations and he has kept to that promise.

“That is one of the major reasons we have resolved to support him for second tenure. Again, Soludo has recorded significant achievements in his first tenure which qualify him to go ahead in order to continue with his good works, “Udegbe said.

The Okada leader while addressing his members at Obi Abubor Nnewichi hall named over thirty one roads across the three senatorial zones already completed by Soludo’s Government and other developmental strides.

“Some of the roads done by the Governor are Abba Junction-Nawgwu-Isuaniocha- Achalla-Ikem-Nando road; Nnokwa-Adazi-Enu-Akwaeze to Awka-Etiti; Igwe Orizu road, Nnewi; Nnewi Nkwo to Nkwo Oraifite; Okpuno-Eze to Teaching Hospital, Nnewi; Ekwulobia Flyover; Ekwulobia to Nnobi; Afor Nkpor to Eke Nkpor, among others.

“There’s no going back in our resolve.
We will mobilize our individual families to support Soludo, “he concluded.

Other officers of the association were the State Secretary, Godwin Oka for; Financial Secretary, Reuben Ojukwu; Treasurer, Ebuka, Chinwe; PRO, Olisa Okonkwo; Trustees, Prince Afam Okeke; Chief Emma Igbokwe; and Prince Igneous Iyke.
