In a heart-wrenching call to action, Uzu Okagbue, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), has condemned the rising tide of violence in Anambra State, describing it as a “reign of blood and terror.”

Okagbue, still fresh from a spiritually uplifting Sunday worship, was jolted back to the grim reality of insecurity in the state after visiting the hospital bedside of Ifeanyichukwu Muokwue — a victim of a horrifying kidnap attack in Umunnachi just the night before.

According to Okagbue, Muokwue had undergone major surgery in the early hours of the morning following a brutal onslaught by gunmen.

“His body, torn by bullets, lay in agony,” Okagbue said, adding “But even that pain was nothing compared to the sense of abandonment in his eyes.”

The YPP chieftain revealed that Muokwue was not alone. The hospital ward was filled with other victims — each bearing gruesome gunshot wounds, fractured limbs, and trauma that spoke louder than words.

“This is not a war zone. This is Anambra,” Okagbue declared, his voice thick with emotion. “How did we become prey in our own homeland?”

Lashing out at the current administration in Awka, Okagbue accused the government of either standing idle or hiding behind weak excuses while armed criminals dictate the terms of life and death in the state.

“This is not governance. This is betrayal,” he fumed.

Calling on Ndi Anambra to rise from silence, Okagbue urged a collective push for urgent intervention.

“We cannot afford to wait for another condolence visit. The time for redemption is not tomorrow. It is now — before we lose everything.”

As tension continues to rise across the state, Okagbue’s emotional outburst echoes the growing frustration of many residents — a people once known for resilience, now battered by fear and bloodshed.
