Ajalli community, in Orumba North local government area of Anambra state is not at peace as the burial date of the former chairman of the National Electoral Commission, NEC, Prof Humphrey Nwosu draws close
As a result, the state commissioner of police, Ikioye Orutugu, has waded in to allow peace to reign.
Orutugu, THE RAZOR gathered, held a meeting with the warring parties in the community on Tuesday at the state police headquarters in Amawbia, but it ended in deadlock
It was further gathered that the CP appealed to the members of the community to consider the calibre of late Professor Humphrey Nwosu, the reason, they should give peace a chance
THE RAZOR, further gathered that the crux of the matter is the insistence of one of the community leaders to be at the helm of the burial of the former NEC chairman.
But the opposing group, especially, the immediate family of the deceased is insisting that their brother left an instruction that must be adhered to.
The instruction being that such a character should not be allowed to attend nor partake in any of the affairs in their family, including burials.
It was gathered too that the said community leader was not in talking terms with the deceased when he was alive
Out of the 17 villages in Ajalli, it was learnt, 15 are solidly behind the Nwosu family, while only two are in support of the community leader
The situation has heightened tension in the community as the police command has vowed not to allow anybody or group to cause mayhem during such high profile burial
Late Prof Humphrey Nwosu has been scheduled to be be buried on 28th March, 2025, as arrangements kick off on the 25th
