The people of Udabor, in Umuer, Anambra East local government area of Anambra state were in frenzy Monday, following the donation of a transformer to the area by the governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party, YPP, Sir Paul Chukwuma
The community had been in darkness for years because the transformer spoilt without help from anywhere
According to Chukwuma, the transformer was for his leisure outfit, but on hearing the plight of the people, he released it to the community immediately
He said, “Only a few months ago, I bought this transformer for my leisure business in Anambra State.
“But around the same time, I was informed that Udabor community has been without light for years because the community’s transformer had been bad for a long time without remedy.
At that moment, I decided to donate and install the transformer for use at Udabor.
“Seeing the joy the new transformer brought to the men and women, young and old members of the community, I was again reminded that what it may take to fix our communities is within our reach” the YPP candidate for the November 8 governorship poll said
One of the community leaders who spoke with The Razor, Mr Sunday Ogbuefi, said all appeals to the authorities had yielded nothing, describing Chukwuma as a true leader
For Elizabeth Ogbogu, ” this is a big relief to the community. It is painful seeing light in communities around you at night while your area is in total darkness. We thank Sir Paul Chukwuma for this”
