Anambra Police Commissioner Ikioye Orutugu has urged women in the area to be alive to their responsibilities as mother’s of the family.
Orutugu also lamented the level of moral decadence among the younger generation noting that the task of child care and socialization behooves on mothers who see children from birth to adulthood as according to him the men are not always there.
According to him while receiving an award of Excellence in crime fighting and also investiture as the Grand patron of the Ultimate Business Women and Farmers Association Of Nigeria (UBWFAN).
He said, “The major role in the training of children is at the table of mothers and whatever attitude that a child displays is blamed on the mothers because the men are not always there due obvious reasons.
“That makes it important that our mothers should rise to the occasion and when you look at the level of moral decadence in our society today it calls for concern and that is where our wives and mothers come in ”
Orutugu who dedicated the award to the Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga described him as a sound Police Officer who has always displayed passion for his job and has been a partner in the battle against insecurity in the state.
“I used to dedicate all other awards to my fellow officers in the Nigerian army , NIgerian Navy or Agunechemba that has contributed to the relative peace in the state though not yet Uhuru and at least people are no longer panicking”
“I want to dedicate this award to my son and colleague to my friend Superintendent Tochukwu Ikenga the Public Relations Officer of this command”
“This is because most of the things as Commissioner of Police weather it comes to me in the dream or by way of inspiration the first person that I discuss with is my PRO ”
“He has never deducted my ideas and all he dose is to add it up and if it is number seven he will add eight, nine and ten ”
“And we have never failed because there is no way that we are going to fail and the desire and need for our actions is passion driven and pure passion driven”
“That accounts for the commendations that we get from people outside and if he did not give me that energy I will not be encouraged to do more “he said.
Speaking earlier the National President of Ultimate Business Women And Farmers Association Of Nigeria’ UBWFAN Hon Nkiru Nwagbo described the Commissioner as one that has restored peace in the state adding that the award is part of the moves of the Association to encourage him further.
“Since he assumed office in Anambra state there has been great peace and relief in the area of security of lives and property and this Association find it necessary to encourage him in the discharge of his duties ” she said.
As a state Anambra state we are doing better and in all sectors and that is commendable.
