Anambra State Executive Council headed by governor of the state, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has approved the insurance of the new Government House; Light House Awka for the sum of N871 million.
This was contained in a press release signed by the Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor and made available to journalists in Awka.
Mefor said the approval was made during the 23rd Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) Meeting, held at Light House, Awka, on November 17, 2025.
He said: “The Council approved the sum of N87,168,413.00 (eighty-seven million, one hundred and sixty-eighty thousand, four hundred and thirteen naira) only, as the annual premium for the provision of asset insurance policy/coverage for the Light House, Awka, through a long-term agreement of five (5) years in the first instance.”
Checks by THE RAZOR showed that the company handling the insurance of the magnificent project is Guinea Insurance PLC.
The release showed that during the meeting, the council deliberated on other issues including plans for a memorable Christmas celebration, condemnation of the death rumours of former governor, Chief Willie Obiano and congratulation of the new Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof Bond Anyaehie.
Mefor also revealed the award of other projects. They include; modification and completion of the abandoned court building and the renovation/upgrade of associated structures within the Court of Appeal Complex, Awka, rehabilitation of failed portions of the Court Road and Obunagu Road, within the Awka Metropolis, supply & installation of fire-fighting equipment at the College of Nursing Sciences, Umueze-Isuofia, Aguata LGA, among others.
