Anambra Govt Approves Three Events for Soludo’s 2nd Term Swearing In

Anambra State Executive Council has approved three events to commemorate the swearing in of the state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo for a second term in office.

Soludo would on March 17 be sworn in for a second term, after securing re-election in last year’s governorship election on November 8.

In a press statement by the State Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor on the Anambra State Executive Council’s (ANSEC) second meeting of 2026, held at Light House, Awka, Mefor revealed that the three events would include; interdenominational service on Sunday, March 15; a swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday, March 17; and a thanksgiving service on Sunday, March 22.

The statement read in part: “The Council approved the three primary events for the swearing-in of Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, and Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim as governor and deputy for a second term and established several subcommittees to ensure smooth execution.

“The three events are an interdenominational service on Sunday, March 15; a swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday, March 17; and a thanksgiving service on Sunday, March 22.”

He also added that during the meeting, the council awarded and approved funds for some strategic projects, including IAAF standard 5-lane spray system track and natural grass pitch in Ekwulobia Stadium Complex, road marking and installation of thermoplastic speed bumps along the 10.043 km newly constructed Afor Nkpor-Eke Obosi Road and Building an asphalt surface on the service lane to the State House of Assembly and the High Court Complex Awka, among others.
