As Anambra State Government’s special ‘Ọnwa Dezemba’ programme commences on Thursday, December 18, Ndị Anambra have been assured of a safe atmosphere to enjoy the 2-week-long events.
The Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, who disclosed this at a press briefing at the Office of the Deputy Governor, Light House, Awka, along with other top government officials, which included the Commissioner of Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, among others, said the police and other security agencies have been notified about the various events and would do the needful in providing adequate security.
According to Mefor, “the scheduled dates, venues and events are:
– 18th December:
# Onwadezemba City Block – (For the Gen Z, a fun-filled gathering with music, performances and other forms of entertainment), 6pm at Awka City Stadium (By Solution Fun City)
– 20th December: #onwadezemba Christmas Carol/Cankata – 4pm at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka
– 25th December: #onwadezemba Children’s Christmas Festival – 2pm at Solution Fun City
– 27th December: #onwadezemba Ịgba Mmanwụ Festival – 2pm at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka
– 28th December: #onwadezemba Ịgba Mmanwụ Festival – 2pm at Township Stadium, Ekwulobia
– 29th December: #onwadezemba Novelty Match – 2pm at Awka Township Stadium
– 29th December: #onwadezemba Ịgba Mmanwụ Festival – 2pm at Ezechima Primary School, Onitsha
– 30th December: #onwadezemba Flavour Home Coming – (A special concert where Anambra’s popular musician, Flavour n’Abanịa, returns to Anambra State for a special performance), 5pm at Solution Fun City
– 3rd January: #onwadezemba Walk for Life – 7am at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka
– 3rd January: #onwadezemba LOL (Laugh Out Loud) Anambra – (A comedy show/stand-up comedy night where comedians perform live, aiming to make the audience laugh out loud), 5pm at Solution Fun City
– 4th January: #onwadezemba All White Old School Night – (A party/event where attendees are encouraged to wear all-white outfits with a focus on playing and celebrating “old school” music), 6pm at Solution Fun City”.
While calling on Ndị Anambra to be part of the series of events lined up to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Anambra State, Mefor informed them that all the various events would be free of charge, as directed by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.
Among the government officials at the press briefing are the Commissioner for Culture and Entertainment, Comrade Don Onyenji; the Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Mr Christian Aburime; the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr Ejimofor Opara; and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Entertainment, Bob Manuel Udokwu.
