The Anambra State Government has confirmed the ongoing detention of native doctors suspected of engaging in diabolic activities, including get-rich-quick schemes linked to Okeite.
This move is part of the state’s efforts to rid itself of criminal elements, in line with the 2025 Homeland Law.
These were contained in a post executive council meeting press statement made available to our correspondent by the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, PhD.
According to the statement the council meeting was held on Monday.
“Thorough investigations are ongoing, and those found guilty will face the full force of the law,” Mefor said.
He said the state government is documenting practitioners of traditional medicine but not registering or granting them practice certificates.
Mefor said the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has instructed communities to document non-indigenes without charging fees, emphasizing that this process is a social responsibility rather than a means of generating income.
The council has also approved several development projects, including the construction of the Nzam headquarters road in Anambra West LGA, expected to be completed in six weeks at a cost of N801,534,464.00.
An additional N48,500,000 has been approved for the construction of Staff Offices, Examination Hall, and Laboratory building at Urban Boys Secondary School, Fegge, Onitsha South Local Government Area.
Furthermore, the government will take over community secondary schools, upgrade them to state standards, integrate teachers into the state’s workforce, and hire additional teachers as needed.
