A political activist in Anambra State and CEO BRASS LINKS MEDIA CONSULT,
Chuddy Brass Nwankwo, has cautioned aides and supporters of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo against what he described as sustained and unwarranted media attacks on the APC governorship candidate for the November 8 poll, Chief Nicholas Chukwujekwu Ukachukwu.
Nwankwo, who addressed journalists on Sunday in Awka under the banner of the Ikukuoma Campaign Organization, said the recent publications targeted at discrediting Ukachukwu were part of a deliberate smear campaign allegedly orchestrated by Soludo’s allies who, he claimed, are rattled by Ukachukwu’s rising political profile and growing popularity.
“The attention of the Ikukuoma Campaign Organization has been drawn to the activities of some fifth columnists whose sole aim is to launch vitriolic attacks on the person and personality of our candidate, Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu,” he stated.
He accused the Soludo camp of resorting to “desperate propaganda” instead of showcasing tangible achievements after nearly four years in office, claiming that the governor’s failure to deliver on electoral promises has made his re-election campaign vulnerable.
“The emergence of Prince Ukachukwu as APC candidate has thrown the camp of the incumbent governor into panic mode. Rather than highlight achievements in infrastructure or human capital development, they’ve opted for smear campaigns and character assassinations,” Nwankwo alleged.
The activist further criticized what he described as calculated efforts by the Soludo administration to frustrate opposition campaigns across the state.
He cited the recent imposition of a ₦50 million levy on outdoor political advertisements as a tactic to stifle the opposition and deny voters access to information.
“Governor Soludo’s ₦50 million advert fee during an election season is a clear strategy to gag the opposition and restrict campaign visibility. If this isn’t desperation, what is?” he queried.
He defended Ukachukwu’s political and business pedigree, describing him as a “man of immense accomplishments” whose entry into the race poses a credible challenge to the ruling party.
“Prince Ukachukwu is not a political neophyte as being painted. He has led one of the largest business conglomerates in oil and gas, construction, real estate, media, and education.
He also served as chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council and later represented AMAC/Bwari in the House of Representatives, where he chaired the FCT Committee,” he said.
Nwankwo emphasized Ukachukwu’s philanthropic interventions across education, health, and youth empowerment, noting his consistent contributions both in the FCT and Anambra.
He affirmed the APC candidate’s resolve to run an issue-based campaign focused on rebuilding Anambra.
“No amount of intimidation, propaganda or campaign of calumny will stop the Ikukuoma Movement. Prince Ukachukwu’s mission is simple: to serve. Anambra ga-adi mma ozo (Anambra will be well again),” he declared.
The Anambra governorship election is scheduled for November 8, 2025.
