Anambra leader, Chief Obi Okoli, has commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing, late Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu’s wife, Bianca as Minister of State ( Foreign Affairs) describing it as honour to Igbo
He said on Friday that such appointment means Tinubu is bridging the gaps.
In a statement signed by Chief Okoli, himself and made available to reporters Friday in Awka, said Bianca Ojukwu’s appointment as Minister of State (Foreign Affairs) is for entire Igbo
According to Okoli, “The recent appointment of Iyom Bianca Ojukwu, the widow of the Late Igbo leader, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, as Minister of State, Federal Ministry of External Affairs, was an intentional and necessary step towards the recognition and paying accolade to a human institution held in the highest esteem by Ndigbo.
“It is heartwarming and praiseworthy. The appointment is a reflection of President Tinubu’s commitment to the bridging of gaps.
“He did not only honour Ndigbo but also recognized the core values and excellent qualities of Iyom Bianca Ojukwu, which makes her a square peg fitted into a square hole.
“Her diplomatic experience and expertise resonates loudly. There is no doubt, that she would bring her past experience as Nigeria’s former Ambassador to Spain to bear on her appointment.
“I congratulate Iyom and pray that she would use the office of her new position to enhance Nigeria’s position on the global stage.
“I commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for this appointment, which is not for Bianca alone but for the entire Ndigbo.
“The President has again exemplified his fatherly understanding of the yearnings of our people and taken this bold step to recognize the widow of the Late Igbo leader.
“I have special praise for the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, (ODENIGBO) for his political dynamism and ability to pursue a united Nigeria, without party borders.
“The appointment of Iyom Bianca Ojukwu, who is a full fledged member of the Governor’s political party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, is an eloquent testimony of Soludo’s astuteness in political engineering and diplomacy.
“This is another feather to his already feather – filled cap, for his masterful success in integrating Anambra State into the mainstream of national governance, despite his high ranking membership of another party” he wrote
