Anambra State Commander of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA),
Mr Charles Onubuogu, has lamented the high intake of hard drugs by youths in the state.
Onubuogu made the lamentation while speaking with a group of youths during an advocacy talk in Awka last weekend.
He advised youths saying there is nothing so beautiful about drug intake, insisting that people should develop a will power to reject it in totality, knowing that nothing rewarding comes from it, rather it serves as a killer pill.
“There is no more time to waste, the youths are using their whole self to embrace intake of hard drugs.
“I call on parents, guardians and well meaning publics to take the fight against intake of hard drugs by the youths as serious as they take evangelism in winning souls for God. Please, you win souls for the nation.
“Parents should create quality time with their children relaxing and interacting deeply to be able to track down any trait that can sell off any child in drugs deals,” he advised.
He called on the youth leaders, community leaders, faith based organisation leaders, parents, and civil societies bodies across the state to periodically engage the youths on dangers of drug abuse intake.
Onubuogu said that the rate of which youths engages in drugs abuse is frightening and described the scenario as very worrisome to the point that decisive sensitization need to commence immediately.
“That is why NDLEA in Anambra has no other business in the state but to drag people deep in drug abuse and help them reject such substances.
“I advise Anambra youths to choose the path of drug free life and build a safer, healthier and prosperous life by jettisoning drug abuse into their body system.
“I call on members of the public to see the fight against drug abuse as a social responsibility of everyone because if the society is bedeviled with drug addicts then the environment is not habitable.”
