The former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the gruesome murder of Barrister Rolex Ifeanyi Iloakasia, the President General of Aguleri, and his client, who were reportedly shot dead by unknown gunmen.

Obiano stated that the people of Anambra deserve to live without fear.

In a press statement issued on Thursday, Obiano described the killing as a senseless and unjustifiable act that has plunged the Aguleri community into mourning and shaken the collective conscience of Anambra State.

“This senseless act of violence is a dark and painful blow, not just to Aguleri, but to Anambra State as a whole,” he said.

“Snuffing out the life of such a vibrant, intelligent, and promising young man cannot be justified under any circumstance,” Obiano added.

He called on security agencies to spare no effort in investigating the killings and ensuring that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are swiftly brought to justice.

“Our people deserve to live without fear, and such acts of terror must not go unpunished,” he emphasized.

The former governor extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and offered prayers for the repose of the soul of the victim.

“May the Almighty God comfort them in this time of grief,” he said, adding, “I pray that the soul of Barrister Iloakasia and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in perfect peace.”

The late Barrister Iloakasia was widely regarded as a rising star and a unifying figure in Aguleri before his tragic death.

His killing has sparked widespread condemnation and renewed calls for enhanced security measures across Anambra State.
