Another Blow to Anambra APC as Tinubu Excludes State Chairman, Basil Ejidike, from Appointments

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has excluded Chief Basil Ejidike, the Anambra State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), from his recent appointments, leaving many stunned.

This development is seen as another significant blow to the Anambra State chapter of the APC.

The President recently appointed 19 APC state chairmen and some National Working Committee members as board chairmen of various Federal Government institutions.

However, Chief Ejidike’s name was noticeably absent from the list.

This exclusion is not the first time the Anambra State chapter of the APC has been overlooked.

Previously, President Tinubu appointed Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Mark Okoye of the same APGA as CEO/MD of the South-East Development Commission.

Reports suggest that the Anambra State chapter of the APC did not demonstrate sufficient commitment to Tinubu’s election in the 2023 general elections, where the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi performed strongly.

The recent appointments have sparked concerns among APC members in Anambra State, with many questioning why their chairman was excluded.

This development has also raised questions about the party’s future in the state, especially in the state’s governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.

As the APC struggles to regain its footing in Anambra State, the exclusion of Chief Ejidike from the recent appointments sends a clear message that the party’s leadership is dissatisfied with the state chapter’s performance.

Only time will tell how this development will impact the party’s fortunes in the state.
