In our recent report on alleged employment racketeering involving nursing jobs in Anambra State, The Razor News relied on information provided by a long-standing source previously considered credible.
Subsequent verification, however, revealed that the account was not entirely accurate, having been based on a misrepresentation of facts by third parties. Further investigation showed that some job seekers, acting out of desperation, failed to clearly distinguish between the activities of alleged private racketeers and official government recruitment processes, leading to a blanket attribution of the allegations to the Anambra State Ministry of Health.
Our findings now indicate that neither the ministry nor any government agency was involved in the alleged racketeering.
As a newspaper committed to the highest standards of professional ethics, accuracy, and fairness, we regret the error and sincerely apologise to all individuals and institutions who may have been hurt or inconvenienced by the publication, including the governor of the state, Prof Chukwuma Soludo. We remain committed to responsible journalism and to correcting the record whenever facts demand it.
Consequently, the report has been withdrawn.
