At last, Tinubu meets APC guber candidate, Ukachukwu, presents flag to him

Politics

After what seemed like eternity, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has met with the candidate  of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming Anambra State governorship election, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu.

The President met Ukachukwu  alongside his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, at the State House in Abuja.

Ukachukwu’s inability to meet with Tinubu weeks ago when he came to Anambra for a state visit had set tongues wagging. The APC candidates predicament was made worse when Tinubu endorsed Soludo for a second term, describing him as his friend, and one who knows the way.

During the meeting at the villa on Monday evening, Tinubu presented Ukakchukwu and Ekwunife with the APC flag, charging them to go and conquer.

Tinubu was quoted as saying: “We are going to work with you. We are going to stand with you come rain come shine. That is all I can assure you. The party is supreme, but victory is superior and very important.”

The flag presentation was attended by prominent party members, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; the Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State; the House of Representatives Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas; the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje; APC Deputy Chairman (South), Chief Emma Eneukwu; APC South East Zonal Chairman, Dr. Ijomah Arodiogbu. Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, was also in attendance.

THE RAZOR gathered that for months, Ukachukwu has been working to get the attention and endorsement of the president for the forthcoming election.

A source said he has reached out to many contacts to facilitate the meeting, as Soludo was almost gaining upper hand both in the state and in the federal level.

“Lucky for him his moves clicked today. He had earlier reached out to some APC governors for help. All he needed was to be seen with the president to boost the ticket in his hands,” the source said.
