Ahead of this year’s general elections, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Dr Paulinus Ezeokafor has urged the electorate to evaluate the pedigrees of the contestants before casting their votes.

In a statement ahead of the
February and March polls, Ezeokafor charged the people to be guided by their conscience on whom to vote for or live to regret their collective or individual choices.

The prelate likened the three major presidential candidates -Atiku Abubakar (PDP), Bola Ahmed Tinubu ( APC), Peter Obi( LP) – to banks and tasked the electorate to think before deciding on which of them to invest their future in.

He warned against vote buying and selling, describing those who indulge in such as insane.

According to the Bishop, people who indulged in the act stood to suffer the negative consequences with their offspring for ages.

He said he would be expecting the elections to be conducted under a peacefu atmosphere with the umpire, the Indepedent Nstional Electoral Commission (INEC) being truly independent.

Speaking on the horrifying experience Nigerians were passing through due to the redesigned Naira notes, Bishop Ezeokafor urged the Central Bank to ensure that Commercial banks disbursed at least N20,000 each to customers daily for smooth transaction of businesses.

Warning against protests over the development, the prelate called on Nigerians inflicted by the CBN policy to exercise patience as, according to him, “the hard times will soon come to pass.”
