The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has commended the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Hon. Ossy Onuko, for providing quality service delivery in Awka and its environment.
The Governor gave the commendation when he commissioned 60 shops called Solution Arena Fruits and Vegetables in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area, on Friday.
The project, initiated by ACTDA, aims to benefit fruit and vegetable traders.
Soludo praised the initiative, stating that his administration would continue to support ACTDA in achieving its vision of making Anambra a smart, green, livable, and prosperous state in Nigeria.
He noted that the state master plan is comprehensive and will accommodate the next generation of Ndị Anambra, with all Trunk-A Roads mapped out for dualization .
“We have a huge agenda in Agulu and Anaocha. We are just two years and a few months in office. You (Agulu) have benefited a lot within these two years.
“The Solution Arena, which isn’t typically a state government project, serves as a model for communities, part of our urban regeneration agenda.”
“This initiative brings development closer to the people, especially the poor and forgotten, aligning with the All Progressives Grand Alliance’s (APGA) ‘leave no one behind’ mantra. Everyone doing business here will receive a shop free of charge.”
Soludo also highlighted that some communities, previously without tarred roads, now have access to them thanks to the massive 500-kilometer road construction project in the state.
He said Odu Igbo in Onitsha is being constructed, and a Solution Arena structure is operational in Awka, reducing street trading.
“Agulu is a significant town, beautifully created with a lake. We will transform Agulu into a tourist destination,” the Governor stressed.
Similarly, Human rights activist, Mr. Osita Obi, commended Hon. Ossy Onuko for his transformative ideas in the capital territory.
Obi praised Governor Soludo for showing compassion to displaced fruit and vegetable traders by providing them with an improved location after their displacement due to road construction.
Osita Obi said, “I’m now seeing a different side of Soludo. Before, I thought he was rigid, but with this development, I have seen the human face and compassion in him and his government.”
