Awka South LGA Chair, Okafor Backs Soludo’s Youth Empowerment Initiative

The Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Center auditorium in Awka was filled beyond capacity yesterday as over 1,500 enthusiastic youths from Awka South gathered to participate in the second phase of the “One Youth, Two Skills” Value Reorientation Workshop.

The event was sponsored by Prince Chinedu Okafor, the Awka South APGA Flag Bearer for the upcoming Anambra Local Government election, and featured the participation of key APGA stakeholders.

Addressing the attendees, Prince Okafor congratulated the selected candidates and emphasized the workshop’s theme, “Setting the Right Values for a Prosperous Homeland.” He praised Governor Soludo as a youth-friendly leader committed to equipping Anambra’s young population with skills for self-reliance and meaningful contributions to the state’s growth.

Okafor described the “1 Youth, 2 Skills” program as a groundbreaking initiative designed to tackle unemployment, crime, and other social issues by nurturing smart and capable entrepreneurs through training, mentorship, and business financing.

Prince Okafor also urged the participants to seize this opportunity to become self-reliant and contribute positively to their families and communities. He commended Governor Soludo for expanding the youth empowerment initiative and called on the youths to support his own bid to become the Chairman of Awka South Local Government Area, promising to build on Soludo’s efforts to enhance the capital city and invest in human capital development.

Earlier, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba, the Anambra State Commissioner for Youth, praised Prince Okafor for facilitating the workshop, noting that the “One Youth, Two Skills” program is part of Soludo’s broader plan to make Anambra a hub of skilled entrepreneurs in Africa.

The event also featured a presentation by Mr. Chinecherem Oguegbe, State Chairman of the Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, who highlighted the program’s high standards and its potential to produce independent young entrepreneurs.

Awka South Local Government APGA Chairman, Barrister Lawrence Chukwuma, lauded Prince Okafor’s passion for youth development and Soludo’s commitment to prioritizing youth empowerment. He encouraged continued support for the current administration and Prince Okafor’s chairmanship ambition, emphasizing the protection of trainees’ rights throughout the program.
